In 2005, timber imports via Manzhouli accounts for one fourth of the national total limber imports and Manzhouli becomes China's largest timber import center.
According to the Customs of Manzhouli, during January and November this year, a total of 7.304 million cubic meters of timber were imported, worth US$ 550 million, growing by 15.3% and 19.35% on a year-on-year basis, respectively.
The Customs of Manzhouli has developed a strict and convenient customs clearance mode. On the one hand,it established a trust management mechanism with timber importers and signed memorandums of understanding with 53 enterprises.On the other hand, a preferential policy of "strict backend work and open frontend work" is adopted towards creditable enterprises. Follow-on supervision has been strengthened and multiple monitoring implemented towards shipping bills, taxes and fee systems. |
