On December 15, 2005, the Xinlinbei-Zalantun-Najitun section, totaling 136.67km, of thefirst class inter-provincial highway in Hulun Buir was open to traffic. The highway was a large-scale highway construction project in highway construction history of Hulun Buir with the largest investment scale, highest design grade and the most pressing construction period.

It is learned that the inter-provincial highway from Najitun of Inner Mongolia to Beihai of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is one of the eight key highways in the west China development plan and the trunk highway project the state planned in west China area. Xinlinbei-Najitun is the starting point of theproject, covering Zalantun City and Arun Banner, built in line with standards of first-class highway with total investment reaching 1,340 million yuan.
