BEIJING, July 24 -- The scene was three days of rock and roll and beer on the vast grasslands. The inaugural Erdos Rock Music Festival attracted hundreds of fans, who followed their icons to the grasslands near Erdos City, in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The festival wrapped up on Sunday amid the crowds' demands for more.

Debuting as a major outdoor rock carnival after the annual Midi Music Festival held in May, the grassland rock party featured a line-up of China's best known rock bands and musicians.

From heavy metal band Tang Dynasty to the rock-cum-folk Second Hand Rose, to ex-Beyond member Paul Wong hailing from Hong Kong to Taiwan's distinctive singer Wu Bai, the musicians' passionate performances managed to blaze a rock trail through the grasslands.

Many fans were also there to witness the reunion of Zhang Chu, Dou Wei and He Yong. Formerly known as the celebrated backbones for the now defunct music label Magic Stone, the veterans gathered for the first time since their influential concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum in 1994.
